Formscan By Mark Nunan - LA TULIPE NOIRE hit form at the backend of last season and appears to be coming to hand again. She was behind Tariff and God Knows when fourth at the Curragh last week and may be able to turn around those placings on ground that she handles well. God Knows, second of 23 in that one-mile contest at the Curragh, represents a small yard that is enjoying a purple patch and she won’t mind testing conditions either. Curragh winner Tariff is at the top of his game, but he has been busy of late and may prefer better ground. Capolinea showed promise over a longer trip on handicap debut and is another to consider. %0A

We had no luck with her at the beginning, we did various different things, and then we got Seamie Heffernan to ride her five times and she hit the crossbar a few times,. Seamie would come in and say ‘this one will win a race’. We bought her because Jessica’s father Tony is a friend of mine, and he works for me. We bought her originally because Jessica got her Flat licence but she just wasn’t doing what we’d like so we got Seamie then and in fairness to him he got off her the last time he rode and said this mare will win. Sometimes you don’t believe it, you think this is a jockey telling me a story, but she did turn up for Jessica the last day. He said maybe we should take advantage of the 7lb so we did the last day. Jessica is riding great. I said to her if she could take up the running and slow it down but she said that there were two horses in it that were runaways. She said she’d sit in. She’s still very young and hasn’t a pile of riding done but she was very clever there. She’s very good, she has a lovely feel for horses. I’m surprised she isn’t getting more spins. We only have five horses and they’ve all won. He was tough. I thought yesterday might have taken the shine off him a bit but we took him out for a pick of grass this morning and he was good and well in himself,. He jumped and travelled, which is something he doesn’t usually do. He toughed it out well. Hopefully he can progress a bit more next year as a four-year-old. There is a race in Galway for him next week but he’s after having two hard races and Thurles was a tough race too. He’s still only a whippet of a horse so we might give him a bit of time. Yeah it was fantastic,. He toughed it out well there. I knew he came out of the Listowel race well. He is an easy horse to train and I'm delighted for everyone involved.
