Formscan By John O'Riordan - Just touched off at the Curragh last time, ELECTRIC BEAUTY can gain compensation. A winner at that same track on her previous start, the Michael Mulvany-trained filly went down narrowly on her most recent appearance. With the gelding that beat her again running a big race in stronger company subsequently, the four-year-old should be a leading contender back against her own sex here. Course and distance winner Thrifty Of Digby is drawn out wide but overcame a similar berth when scoring here in October. Jessica Harrington's filly will have no issues with the testing ground conditions. Fast Tara has yet to add to her maiden win but has run some solid races in defeat and, appears well handicapped.

It looked a very, very competitive race, but this is a filly we always thought a lot of at the start of the year. She goes through the soft ground well and it was a good performance. I just put the cheekpieces on for this track, it is a sharp track. I put them on her and she probably didn't need them, but around here just put them on her to help her on this track. We tried her over further at Tramore the last day but it didn't work, so we brought her back in trip. She is a big filly, we're only learning about her and I thought she might stay further as when she was with Ken Condon, he ran her over further. I think her ideal trip is around nine furlongs. She isn't slow and had won over seven furlongs at Leopardstown but, at the end of the day, she is only learning about it and hopefully it is onwards and upwards with her. Thrifty Of Digby had three weeks out in the field so was fresh, and was just ready to start back. It was kind of a stepping stone for a fillies handicap in Punchestown, so we’ll go there next. We had no luck with her at the beginning, we did various different things, and then we got Seamie Heffernan to ride her five times and she hit the crossbar a few times,. Seamie would come in and say ‘this one will win a race’. We bought her because Jessica’s father Tony is a friend of mine, and he works for me. We bought her originally because Jessica got her Flat licence but she just wasn’t doing what we’d like so we got Seamie then and in fairness to him he got off her the last time he rode and said this mare will win. Sometimes you don’t believe it, you think this is a jockey telling me a story, but she did turn up for Jessica the last day. He said maybe we should take advantage of the 7lb so we did the last day. Jessica is riding great. I said to her if she could take up the running and slow it down but she said that there were two horses in it that were runaways. She said she’d sit in. She’s still very young and hasn’t a pile of riding done but she was very clever there. She’s very good, she has a lovely feel for horses. I’m surprised she isn’t getting more spins. We only have five horses and they’ve all won. I knew she’d love conditions. She had been running at Dundalk and she probably shouldn’t have been as she likes a cut in the ground,. I wasn’t sure if she was fully revved up for today. She’s a filly that doesn’t carry much weight and takes no work to get ready. You’ll probably see the best of her fresh but at the same time I didn’t know if she had enough done to be involved. Joey gave her a lovely ride, he took her back and let them at it, and then she stayed on well. A mile is probably better for her as well. The boys are excellent at claiming, they don’t miss a beat and if there is any value they will take it. They were very sweet on her, they said she just needed a freshen up and she’s obviously done well for the break. She has been placed in some big handicaps and ran in Royal Ascot last year. We’ll make hay while the ground is soft. It’s absolutely brilliant to get one in those colours for the week that’s been. Obviously we lost Jim Gough who was buried last week. For Stephen and James McAuley it’s great for them to get a winner. Jim has been a massive supporter of mine for the last number of years. We’ve had some great horses and we’re going to miss him dearly. The whole yard will miss him. He’s been so good to us, buying horses and keeping us busy. There are ten in the yard at the minute.
