The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident after the first flight involving Knockraha Eagle, ridden by J
Smith, placed third, Ballinaboola Jet, ridden by D.E. Mullins, unplaced, and Late Vocation, ridden by J.P
O'Sullivan, unplaced, where it appeared Ballinaboola Jet ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. J. Smith stated that his mount jumped out to its left and then leaned in on the two horses inside him but he corrected as best he could. D. E. Mullins stated that he received persistent pressure from his outside. J. P
O'Sullivan stated that he received pressure from both sides. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards found J. Smith was in breach of Rule 214, in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his record in this regard (first offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended J. Smith for two racedays.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards rated 0-100 Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
