Tim Vaughan’s representative’s explanation that Double Time (GB) benefitted from a return to a slower surface, officially described as Soft, was noted.
Following the race, Tom Queally reported that Joycean Way (GB), placed second, was denied a clear run approaching and inside the final furlong; and John Flint reported that Judge Frank (IRE), unplaced, was unsuited by the going, officially described as Soft, and would prefer a quicker surface.
