Permission was given for both Grace Angel (GB) and Angel Shared (GB) to wear red hoods to post.
The Veterinary Officer reported that the representative of Phil McEntee had presented the incorrect horse at the racecourse stables for identification in place of Jacquelina (IRE), which was declared to run in the 4:00.
The representative of McEntee and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed, before McEntee was spoken with over the telephone.
Having heard their evidence, the Stewards referred the matter to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority, and ordered that Jacquelina (IRE) be withdrawn.
Leaving the stalls, Galaxy Zoo (GB), placed fourth, jumped very awkwardly and shifted left-handed hampering Tiva (IRE), placed third, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider why Dougie Costello, the rider of Angel Shared (GB), placed fifth, appeared to use his hand in an attempt to encourage his mount during the race, having dropped his whip just before the half furlong marker.
The Stewards reminded Costello of his responsibilities under rule D(2), that only an approved whip should be used to encourage a horse during a race.
The performance of Nightbird (IRE), which finished seventh of eight runners, beaten by a distance of 9¼ lengths, was considered.
The representative of Simon & Ed Crisford’s explanation that the filly was unsuited by the Going, which was riding loose when officially described as Good and would prefer a quicker surface was noted.
The Veterinary Officer examined Nightbird (IRE) post-race and had nothing to report.
Following the race, Daniel Tudhope reported that Tiva (IRE), placed third, suffered interference leaving the stalls.
