The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident after the final hurdle involving Patter Merchant, ridden by J
Smith, placed fourth, and Cato's Revenge, ridden by T. Power Roche, placed fifth, where it appeared contact was made. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence J. Smith stated that he received contact from his right after the final hurdle. T. Power Roche stated that his mount was tired and rolled both ways after the final hurdle but felt he had corrected him sufficiently. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found T. Power Roche, was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his record in this regard (first offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended him for two racedays.
An extended handicap hurdle for five years old and upwards Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
