THE ANNIE OXTOBY MEMORIAL HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) Permission was given for Without Flaw (IRE) to be mounted in the chute and go early to post and for Tanjen (IRE) to go early to post.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately one and a half furlongs out, involving, the winner, Dandy Dinmont (IRE), ridden by Faye McManoman and Tanjen (IRE), unplaced, ridden by David Allan.
McManoman was cautioned for careless riding as she edged her mount left-handed when insufficiently clear causing Allan to take a precautionary check.
An enquiry was held to consider interference one furlong out, involving Miss Brazen (GB), placed third, ridden by Lewis Chalkley, Fuji Mountain (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Zak Wheatley, Hover On The Wind (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Barry McHugh and Without Flaw (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Warren Fentiman.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Chalkley was offered the opportunity to be accompanied but declined.
Chalkley was suspended for 3 days for carless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed without sufficient and timely correction, taking Fuji Mountain (IRE), off its intended line, which in turn moved HOVER IN THE WIND (IRE), off its intended line, resulting in the rider of Without Flaw (IRE) having to take a check.
Approaching half a furlong out, the winner, Dandy Dinmont (IRE), edged marginally right-handed, taking Jojo Rabbit (GB), placed second, off its intended line, which in turn moved Fuji Mountain (IRE), unplaced, off its intended line, resulting in Hover On The Wind (IRE), unplaced, becoming tight for room and the rider having to take a check.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Dandy Dinmont (IRE).
Following the race, Kevin Stott reported that Glory Hyde (IRE), placed fifth, was denied a clear run on several occasions inside the final two furlongs.
