THE BETMGM CUP HANDICAP HURDLE RACE (CLASS 1) (PREMIER HANDICAP) (GBB RACE) Permission was given for Buddy One (IRE) to be mounted in the chute and go early to post, and for The Yellow Clay (IRE), Farren Glory (IRE), Guard Duty (GB), Rambo T (IRE), Franciscan Rock (IRE) and Beckett Rock (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
Sony Bill (FR) wore earplugs throughout the race.
The Stewards held an enquiry following a report from the Equine Welfare Integrity Officer that a syringe was found during a routine search of the travelling bag that arrived with Minella Rescue (IRE), trained by Gary Hanmer.
The trainer, the trainer’s representative, the travelling head person, the Veterinary Officer, and the Investigating Officer were all interviewed.
Being satisfied that the gelding had received only normal food and water by mouth on the day of racing, the Stewards allowed Minella Rescue (IRE) to run and ordered the gelding to be routine tested.
A report was forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.
The Stewards noted that Give It To Me Oj (GB), unplaced, was badly hampered by fall of The Yellow Clay (IRE) at the third last hurdle.
An enquiry was held to consider interference going into the bend after the second hurdle involving The Yellow Clay (IRE), which fell, ridden by Michael Kenneally, Lucky Place (FR), unplaced, ridden by Brian Hughes, Kopeck De Mee (FR), unplaced, ridden by Mark Walsh, Chart Topper (FR), unplaced, ridden by Brian Hayes, and Beckett Rock (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by M.

The interference was found to be accidental as The Yellow Clay (IRE) stepped quickly left-handed in a tightly bunched field, which resulted in Lucky Place (FR), Kopeck De Mee (FR), Chart Topper (FR) and Beckett Rock (IRE) becoming short of room and their rider's subsequently having to take a check.
Following the race, Ben Jones reported that Guard Duty (GB), unplaced, ran too free.
