Formscan By Michael Graham - NEEDS MUST could pick up compensation after falling two out when still in with a chance at Punchestown. His maiden hurdle victory in Fairyhouse showed what he is capable of. Long Branch faced a stiff task in a novice hurdle at Thurles, but kept on well for third. On his previous start he took a rated novice hurdle in Thurles, and Sean Cleary-Farrell's 7lb claim has him on a mark he should be a factor off. Campbell Black landed a gamble by a neck in a ladies' handicap hurdle at Thurles last month and can go well despite a 6lb rise. Welluknow was victorious in two of his last three starts and is a trip-versatile sort who can get in the mix.

he’s always been a nice horse but I was disappointed in Leopardstown the last day when the race didn’t work out for him on better ground over two miles. Danny (Mullins, jockey then) was very good and looked after him when he wasn’t happening. I’ve no real plan for him and we’ll look now to see where we go next. We went back for a bumper to Down Royal the last day, but he obviously wasn't a bumper horse,. He looked to be running a good second that day but fizzled out. In fairness while he finished last of four then, it wasn't a bad run as he was beaten no distance. Previously he had come home well over hurdles at Listowel and maybe hurdles in front of him is what he wants. While he isn't in the top drawer, he is a nice horse and will go for a rated novice next. Shane was very good on her, it wasn’t easy the way the race was ran, so it was great for him. It was great for the lads, that’s the second horse they’ve had — they were unlucky as the first mare was killed in Tramore. She wouldn’t show much at home and we weren’t expecting her to run so well at Ballinrobe. She’s improving, so it’s great. She’s not big but she’s tough.
