Permission was given for Columnist (GB) and Andesite (GB) to go early to post wearing a red hood and for Pellitory (GB), Aurora Majesty (IRE), Headmaster (GB) and Miami Matrix (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
CONSDOLIDATION, El Matador (IRE) and Andesite (GB) wore earplugs which were removed at the start.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line involving the winner, Mudbir (GB), ridden by Jim Crowley and Dance In The Storm (GB), placed second, ridden by David Probert.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Mudbir (GB)’s placing as both horses drifted towards each other making brief contact and considered responsibility to be borne equally.
They therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
The interference was found to be accidental as Mudbir (GB) shifted quickly left-handed at the same time as Dance In The Storm (GB) shifted right-handed, causing the runners to make contact.
The performance of Headmaster (GB), which started favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
William Haggas could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance.
Headmaster (GB) was routine tested.
Following the race, Jamie Spencer reported that Yah Mo Be There (GB), placed fifth, was slowly away.
