Permission was given for Star Anthem (IRE) to go early to post, wearing a red hood; for Balmacara (GB) and La Trinidad (GB) to both go early to post; and for Epictetus (IRE) and Hi Royal (IRE) to both wear a red hood to post.
Between the 2 furlong marker and 1 ½ furlongs from the line, Bopedro (FR), unplaced, was denied a clear run and thereafter approaching the 1 furlong marker Sisyphean (IRE), unplaced, stepped right- handed, taking Bopedro (FR) off its intended line, which resulted in the gelding clipping heels and stumbling, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The performance of Balmacara (GB), which finished sixteenth of seventeen runners, was considered.
The representative of Eve Johnson Houghton could off no explanation for the gelding’s performance on this occasion.
Following the race, Callum Shepherd reported that Star Anthem (IRE), unplaced, ran too free; Joe Leavy reported that Witch Hunter (FR), placed sixth, hung right-handed; and Jamie Spencer reported that Bopedro (FR), unplaced, clipped a heel and stumbled approaching the final furlong.
