Permission was given for Cruyff Turn (GB) to go early to post; for Blue For You (IRE) and Old Cock (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
Approaching the line, the winner, Old Cock (IRE), shifted quickly left-handed, moving Sisyphean (IRE), placed second, slightly off its intended line, causing La Trinidad (GB), placed third, and Romieu (GB), placed fifth, to be marginally short of room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Old Cock (IRE).
The winner, Old Cock (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Doncaster on 29 March 2025 where the gelding finished last of 22 runners, beaten by 20 ¾ lengths.
Ed Bethell’s explanation that the gelding was better suited by the quicker ground conditions described as Good to Firm, Good in places on this occasion was noted.
The performance of Blue For You (IRE) which started second favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
David O’Meara’s explanation that the gelding was unsuited by the slow early pace on this occasion, was noted.
Following the race, Paul Mulrennan reported that Northern Express (IRE), unplaced, ran too free.
