Permission was given for Grey Cuban (GB) to go early to post and to be mounted on the chute, for See Hector (GER) to go early to post wearing a red hood and to be mounted on the chute and for Silawi (IRE) and Jolly Jack Tar (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
Castle Cove (IRE) wore earplugs which were removed at the start.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 6 ½ furlongs out involving Bolster (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Pierre-Louis Jamin, Naqeeb (IRE), placed second, ridden by Ryan Sexton and Grey Cuban (GB), unplaced ridden by Oisin Murphy.
The interference was found to be accidental as Bolster (GB) was forced off its intended line as a result of Silawi (IRE), placed fifth, changing strides and shifting slightly left-handed, which in turn caused Naqeeb (IRE) to be switched left-handed giving a bump to Grey Cuban (GB) and carrying the gelding off its intended line.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approaching the final furlong involving Silawi (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by James Doyle and Bolster (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Pierre- Louis Jamin.
Ryan Sexton, the rider of Naqeeb (IRE), placed second, was also interviewed but was found not to be involved.
The Stewards considered that Bolster (GB) appeared to be travelling strongly at the time of the interference with the ground and momentum lost as a consequence greater than the distance of a diminishing head at the line, and therefore revised the placings as follows: First- Westridge (FR); Second- Naqeeb (IRE); Third- Defiance (IRE); Fourth- Bolster (GB); Fifth- Silawi (IRE).
Doyle was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he allowed Silawi (IRE) to shift left-handed under a right-handed drive bumping Bolster (GB) and taking it off its intended line, causing the colt to become short for room.
Following the race, Oisin Murphy reported that Grey Cuban (GB), unplaced, suffered interference approximately 6 ½ furlongs out and Jamie Spencer reported that Ancient Rome (USA), unplaced, slipped rounding the bend and the Veterinary Officer reported that Naqeeb (IRE), placed second, had lost its left-hind shoe and Silawi (IRE), placed fifth, had lost its right-hind shoe.
