The Raceday Stewards granted a request from Donncha Duggan, trainer of Akmaam (FR), for an additional ten minutes to present his charge for identification by an IHRB Official in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90
S. Foley, rider of Obama Army (GB), trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount switched off heels a furlong and a half down
R.C. Colgan, rider of Ballymagreehan (GB), trained by David Marnane, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got very upset in the stalls
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the home straight involving Punk Poet, ridden by B.M. Coen, placed sixth, Obama Army (GB), ridden by S. Foley, placed first, and Bungle Inthedesert, ridden by Adam Caffrey, unplaced, where it appeared contact was made between Obama Army and Bungle Inthedesert. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Adam Caffrey stated that he didn't have the horse to go forward and he received a bump from his inside. S. Foley stated that he had to switch off heels for two strides as Punk Poet drifted in front of him causing him to bump Bungle Inthedesert. B.M. Coen stated that his mount drifted a small bit as Obama Army was making his move. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found S. Foley was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered his record in this regard (second offence), and mitigating circumstances in this case, the Raceday Stewards suspended him for three racedays.
