The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the home straight involving Shelbourne Flyer, ridden by D
Browne McMonagle, placed second, Sobriety Blue, ridden by A.J. Slattery, placed sixth, and Miqdaad, ridden by R. Coakley, unplaced, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. R. Coakley stated that a gap appeared in front of him and as he filled it Shelbourne Flyer manoeuvred out causing him to check. D. Browne McMonagle stated that he committed to the gap and edged out to come off heels. A.J. Slattery stated that he maintained his line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found D. Browne McMonagle was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his clean record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended him for two racedays. Mr. A. Ring replaced Mr. C.J. Sweeney in this enquiry
The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Ross O'Sullivan, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Altimara, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Ross O'Sullivan reported that his charge benefitted from the drop in class. Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation given.
