The winner came out and won again since. I thought the three-year-olds had a bit of an advantage with the weight concession. It’s great to win a race with him. He likes being up there on a good pace and he likes good ground. We had owned him ourselves and the lads bought him off me at Christmas. They had a couple of good horses with me. They had An Saighdiur and Sunset Nova, who has retired. There were light on stock but they are back again now. This horse could go for the mile three-year-old handicap in Galway. The Raceday Stewards granted a request from Yvonne Latta, trainer of Everylittlestep, for an additional ten minutes to present her charge for identification by an IHRB Veterinary Officer in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90 The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident down the back straight involving Mythical Rock, ridden by J.A
Heffernan, unplaced, Rampage, ridden by J.J.G. Ryan, unplaced, Haughty (GB), ridden by M. Crehan, placed sixth, and Tilani, ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed third, where it appeared Rampage ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. J. A. Heffernan stated that the race was very steadily run and things got congested. J. J. G Ryan stated that things got tight and he had to take back. M. Crehan stated that the horse on his outside came in on top of him and he had to take a pull. C. D. Hayes stated that the pace slowed considerably but he did not change his line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards took no further action other than to remind C. D. Hayes of his responsibility in relation to evidence given to the Raceday Stewards
The Raceday Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, that M. Crehan, rider of Haughty (GB), had weighed in at 1.6lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he was doing light and had a drink of water after weighing out. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that M. Crehan was in breach of Rule 231 and having considered his record in this regard (second offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended M. Crehan for two racedays
