The ground was probably ideal for him and today was the day. I was delighted for Maurice Regan and Newtown Anner (sponsors of the earlier juvenile Group 3 fillies’ race), who are great supporters of mine and they bred him. The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident in the closing stages of this race involving Genuine Article (GB), ridden by J.A. Heffernan, placed second, and Jagged Edge, ridden by M.W Hassett, placed first, where it appeared M. W. Hassett lost an iron after there was contact between the two. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted
J.A. Heffernan, rider of Genuine Article (GB), trained by Gerard Keane, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount rolled around under pressure
M.W Hassett, rider of Jagged Edge, trained by D. K. Weld, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that he lost his irons about fifty yards from the line
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Godwinson (GB), trained by William Haggas (in GB), at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to have coughed once while being examined but to be otherwise post race normal.
An extended handicap for three years old and upwards that have run three or more times under any Rules of Racing up to and including 18th August, 2025, at least one of those runs having been on or after 1st July, 2024 (105 = 10st) Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won.
